(2014-09-19) New SSL-certificate installed

Yesterday, I got an e-mail from Thawte (our certificate issuer):

"We would like to inform you of Google's intent to phase out support for certificates using a SHA-1 hashing algorithm via degraded visual indicators and warnings in the Chrome™ browser. These changes are expected to take effect in the production version of Chrome version 39 in November 2014."

So, I have now made sure to replace the certificate for https://secure.ericade.net with a new certificate signed with sha256. So far the only incompatible software is Thunderbird. It complains that it does not trust Thawte's Root-CA. You can easily just create an exception and it will work anyway.

If you encounter any problems with our services, please send an e-mail to sitemaster (a) ericade.net
